These boards are industrially manufactured, which explains the relatively low price for this type of item. They are precision-built, but have a limited finish. If you wish, you can apply a finer finish using fine sandpaper (e.g. 220 - 600), then apply mineral oil and sand again. A large cutting board can hold almost an entire bottle of oil! As it becomes saturated, it will need less and less. This type of board, properly cared for, will last you a very long time, even your whole life!
